Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was found unresponsive by police in December at his residence in Carmel, Indiana.
Per Carmel Police Department documents obtained by TMZ Sports, officers were called to Irsay's home on Dec. 8 after someone found him "unconscious on a bathroom floor with a blue skin tone."
An overdose is the suspected cause of the situation, as Irsay "responded slightly" to receiving a dose of Narcan, which TMZ noted is commonly used to revive people in opiate overdose situations.
Per TMZ, the police were prepared to use an automatic electronic defibrillator on Irsay when paramedics arrived and "took over lifesaving efforts" before he was transported to a local hospital in an ambulance.
The documents classified the incident as both an "overdose" and "overdose/poisoning."
The Colts announced on Jan. 9 that Irsay, who had been scheduled to perform with his band in Los Angeles two days later, was being treated for a severe respiratory illness.
"He is receiving excellent care and looks forward to returning to the stage as soon as possible," the team's statement said. "We'll have no additional information at this time, and we ask that you respect the privacy of Jim and his family as he recovers."
The Colts released a statement in response to the TMZ report Wednesday, once again saying Irsay is recovering from a respiratory illness:
Joel A. Erickson @JoelAEricksonColts statement on Jim Irsay: "Mr. Irsay continues to recover from his respiratory illness. We will have no further comment on his personal health, and we continue to ask that Jim and his family's privacy be respected."
Irsay recently spoke about his struggles with addiction during an appearance on HBO's Real Sports.
